Playtime at Homestead Park

You are invited to a pop-up Playtime at Homestead Neighborhood Park with Vancouver Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services on Tuesday, July 15. Since the playground opened over the winter, we haven’t had a chance to properly celebrate!

We'll be set up at the park from 6:30-8 p.m. with drinks, snacks and some fun giveaway items to thank neighbors for their help designing the new playground. All ages are welcome, drop by anytime.

Staff will be at the playground to answer any questions you have about Homestead or other Vancouver parks. We hope you will stop by to say, hello!

New playground includes swings and separate play structures for ages 2-5 and 5-12.

New play equipment features a whimsical cloud theme with colors that make you feel like you're exploring the Northwest sky.

Playground Design

Homestead Neighborhood Park (1911 SE 159th Pl.) is getting a new playground! This 6.2-acre park serves the Cascade Highlands, Cascade Southeast and Fairway/164th Ave. neighborhoods in east Vancouver.

The approved design includes:

  • Play areas for ages 2-5 and 5-12 with a mix of artificial turf and engineered wood fiber
  • Swings
  • Shadow play flower art piece
  • New nature play log scramble area
  • New and replaced furnishings including bike rack, benches and trash can

Project Overview

Installed in 1991, the play equipment at Homestead Neighborhood Park is in poor condition. It does not meet current ADA standards and will become a safety concern if it is not replaced. In 2024, Vancouver Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services will replace the play equipment to better serve the surrounding neighborhoods.

The budget for this project is focused on replacing the play equipment in the existing playground location and adding a few additional amenities. The Cascade Highlands Neighborhood Association has also secured funding for two new benches, which will be placed along the walking path during playground construction.
