Vancouver Moves is a plan to guide the City's future transportation system.
Vancouver Moves is an in-depth planning process that will explore transportation needs and priorities in partnership with Vancouver residents, employees and visitors. The project will examine existing travel conditions for all users of the city's transportation system, including those who drive, walk, bicycle, ride transit or deliver freight. The City will also talk to residents about their transportation priorities, with additional focus on communities that have been historically under-served by transportation investments.
Building from these conversations over the coming year, Vancouver Moves will identify recommended policies, programs and projects to guide the City's transportation future.
Why transportation matters
Vancouver residents depend on the transportation system every day.
Transportation matters because everyone in Vancouver deserves a safe and reliable transportation system that meets their daily needs. Much has changed since the City’s current Transportation System Plan was adopted in 2004. Since 2010, Vancouver has welcomed more than 14,000 new residents and 10,000 new jobs, meaning the transportation system must meet the needs of a growing community. The transportation system must also adapt to changing community needs, including impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, while supporting the city's health and economy.
Other ways to engage
In addition to the Online Open House, this website offers multiple ways to share your transportation ideas with the City. Use the tabs below to tell us your transportation story, share your ideas, ask a question, or to take a brief transportation survey.
To stay up to date on the project, please subscribe to our email list using the form in the right sidebar on this page, and follow the City of Vancouver on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Nextdoor.

Close Main Street to all automobile traffic. Reserve for pedestrians, bicycles and business outside seating.

By adding light rail system, to our city’s already growing transportation infrastructure, will enable us to transport more residents. Moreover this would also prepare us for our growing city and those around us. A bridge project eventually will happen boomers, wether you like it or not, and we need to be ready for it. Additionally, safety is just as paramount in all other areas of transit. By adding more “ safety officers” ’patrolling our routes and stations; their presence would be a great opportunity to interact with the community.

Connect disjointed bike paths so they can be used to get safely across town for commuting and shopping, not just leisure activities. Increase the service frequency for existing bus routes so bus trips with cross-connections are easier to plan and become a worry-free alternative to car travel, not just a last resort for those without their own transportation (service drives demand). Improve ventilation and invest in sanitizing air purification technologies for buses.

My idea is for a transportation system that includes safe and reliable options for walking, bicycling, driving, riding transit, and skating in every part of the City.
