We are working to improve safety and comfort on 192nd Avenue from NE 18th Street to SE 1st Street. The new design will meet current standards and support growth in the area. The project team is currently collecting information and feedback from the community to help share the first design concept.

We recently hosted our first community open house, where we shared design concepts and gathered feedback from the community. We heard about travel needs and listened to thoughts on possible design considerations.

Attendees at the open house:

  • Learned about our goals for improving safety, mobility and access along 192nd Avenue
  • Viewed early design ideas and suggested intersection improvements
  • Learned how the project fits into the City’s Transportation System Plan and Complete Streets policy
  • Shared feedback that will help shape the final design

If you were unable to attend and would like to share your feedback, please complete our feedback form.

This input will help create an updated design, which will be shared with the community in fall of 2025.

The project team will consider whether to:

  • Repave and restripe the roadway
  • Expand the roadway, where possible
  • Use roundabouts or traffic lights to improve intersections at 18th, 13th, 9th and 6th Streets
  • Extend sidewalks and bike lanes on both sides of the street, where possible
  • Improve access to existing curb ramps
  • Add center turn lanes and medians, where possible
  • Modernize stormwater treatment and drainage systems

The project area is located on the eastern edge of Vancouver. Unincorporated Clark County and the city of Camas border the project area to the north and east.

Near the project area, there are a mix of residential neighborhoods, rural lands and schools, including:

  • Harmony Sports Complex, northwest of the project area
  • Union High School, southeast of the project area
  • A variety of businesses and shopping centers along 192nd Avenue and SE First Street

Other improvement projects in progress or planned near 192nd Avenue include:

The project team will continue to work with the community on the project's design through 2026. Construction is planned to begin no sooner than 2028 once funding is secured for that phase of the project.

  • Fall 2024 - Winter 2025: Collected feedback on early design ideas
    • Project Advisory Group Meeting #1

  • Spring 2025: Presented early design ideas to the community
    • Project Advisory Group Meeting #2
    • Transportation and Mobility Commission Meeting #1

  • Summer 2025: Share proposed design ideas and ask for community feedback
    • Open House #1
    • Project Advisory Group Meeting #3

  • Fall 2025: Share preferred design options and ask for community feedback
    • Open House #2

  • 2026 & Beyond: Present design choices and explain what to expect during construction
    • Open House #3

Public involvement is important to ensure this project meets the needs of the community. Whether you live, work, play or travel in the area, we want to hear from you to make sure the improvements benefit everyone who uses 192nd Avenue.

Throughout the design process, there will be opportunities for in-person or virtual meetings, small group discussions and open houses.

In-person event schedule:

  • June 18, 2025 - Open House #1
  • Fall 2025 - Open House #2
  • 2026 - Open House #3

More details about the first open house will be added later this spring. To get the latest updates, sign up for the project email list, and follow the City on Facebook, Nextdoor and Instagram.

A project advisory group (PAG) of people who live, work, go to school nearby and regularly use 192nd Avenue was brought together to help advise the project team throughout the design process. The group includes representatives from:

  • Neighbors who live near and travel along the corridor
  • The Humane Society for Southwest Washington
  • Evergreen Public Schools
  • People who operate Harmony Sports Complex, and teams that use their fields
  • Nearby places of worship
  • City of Camas Public Works Department
  • And more

In February 2025, the group met to learn about the project and share ideas about what changes are needed most. In May 2025, the group met again to see early design concepts and gave a recommendation for pedestrian and intersection improvements. This recommendation was shared at the June 18 open house.

The group will have one more meeting after the open house to help finalize the design.

For more information about the PAG, email Nicole Walters or call 360-487-8645 for more information.
